Am I getting it all?

Emma finished up some standerized testing last week at school.  Just as any test, our anxious Emma gets so nervous and has to have the biggest pep talk morning of.   However, the first day, she came home and announced with much excitement, that the teacher announced the top scores in the class. Emma was #2! Congrats you smarty pants...always knew we were raising a genius. The next day of testing (which was language keep in mind), she came home to announce..."I did even gooder than yesterday!"

Daughter #2 has recently developed this sort of under-her-breath-evil laugh.  No idea where it came from, but she uses it....daily.  A simple conversation the other day as I carry in groceries and Hope wanted to stay outside;
Me - Do NOT drive your scooter down the driveway.
Hope - [insert above described laughing]
Me - Look at me and answer, are you allowed to go down the driveway?
Hope - No.....but I drive over dog poop!!! [insert more laughing as she peels outs on scooter]

Sometimes I think back to why I started this blog in the first place.  It was a way for me to remember all those silly things my kids were saying, share the pictures of our daily life passing by, and capture all the moments so we can look back on them.
So far, I think I am way behind.

Heyyyyy Mom....

Hope:  "Hey Mom, take me picture...wit Hank."
Me:  "OK."
Hope:  "I tink he funny."

Whoever said diamonds were a girl's best friend, obviously never owned a dog.

Blessings at the fence.

We have neighbors.  They are swell way better than swell neighbors, too.

They. are. fantastic.

They meet us at the back of the fence to give us goodies...usually in baked form.
They watch out for our dog as if he was one of their own.
They keep tabs on Emma and all her activities from school to dance.
They give our girls crafts.
They invite us to their family get-togethers.
They feed us yummy food at their family get-togethers.
They have a shed full of tools that come in handy.
They make our kids smile.
They check on us after storms.
They save box tops for Emma.
They help me catch moles.
They buy girl scout cookies.
They let our girls hop the fence and play on their swing set (and ring the bell).
They have us over for evening fires...paired with s'mores.
They keep their eye over us when Adam travels.
They say "sure you can spend the night" when Emma ask.
They hug on our kids like their own grandkids.
They share their garden produce all summer long.
They always wave when walking by...and usually stop to chat.
They make special treats for each girl at every holiday.
They babysit on a dime.
They let Hope help herself in their pantry for granola bars.
They share their flowers and give us perennials.

They ask for nothing in return. We are blessed.

They aren't a frog and and elephant, they are Greg and Karen.
They best neighbors a family could ask for.
(Last picture proudly taken by photographer, Emma.  Greg and Karen entertained Emma's invitation to come over for supper last summer to celebrate Adam's birthday.)

...and Easter continues.

After church service on Easter morning, the family all came to celebrate at "Papaw and Grandma's" house.  Of course, there wasn't a moment that went by that two certain little gals had every one's undivided attention. I guess that's just what happens when you add blond locks with a bit of sassiness!  Really, just look at this first picture below...that about sums it up.  Is there anyone else in the room?  Nah, just Hope and Emma...Papaw's house is completely their stage.

Every Easter celebration needs a Boston Creme Cake!  Emma helped make it herself and was in charge of lighting the candles - yikes!  Happy birthday to Papaw, Aunt Lisa, and Jonetta!

The man of many hats.

Dad, brother, son, Brand Manager, sport enthusiast, IU fanatic, office professional, MBA go-getter,  business traveling, ....and then there is THIS.......

Easter Morning

As if celebrating the risen Christ wasn't enough to smile about...there are two girls that bring an extraordinary amount of joy to my spirit.
Hope more than excited to find her basket had made it all the way to Grandma and Papaw's house.  And how darling are those knee socks?  They have their own story... right, Robyn Haliday?  Right.

One last picture before heading to church on this Easter morning.  xoxo

Missing a couple ingredients.

Just happen to be walking through the upstairs hallway with my camera in hand. (...and no I don't just stand around the house all day holding my camera) When all of the sudden I hear coming from Hope's room a very loud and aggressive "HOY-YAAA!"
...and again, "HOY-YA!"
What was my sweet little gal doing?  Another "HOY-YA!"
Jamming a piece of black foam board into her wall.  Over and over and over again.  "HOY-YAAA!"
What ever happen to sugar and spice and all that's nice with this one?  :)

So long snow, see ya next year....

It seemed that winter was very drawn out this year. We would get a short tease of what we thought was spring just to have our desire of wearing sandals crushed with a snow storm. So it seemed only fitting that on this very warm spring day (that we spent as much outside as we could), I play catch up and post a couple pictures from the last snowfall just a mere two weeks ago.  She titled this creation "Dad".  Seems about right.

I do believe "Dad" is waving bye to us.  Catch ya later Old Man Winter...catch. ya. later.

Show me the love.

What's all this talk about Easter? I'm just now getting pictures up from Valentine's day! ahhhhh...the life of a blogging mom (or not so blogging, lately).

So rewind back to February. A favorite holiday of mine and the girls. What could be better than a day to celebrate the act of loving?! This year Grandma was in town and got to love on a couple little beaming blonds.  Who's more excited over what...Grandma over the girls, Emma over her grandma, or Hope over a decorated cherry pie made from grandma?  I'll put my money on the last one.
Adam was out of town on business and missed this year's love fest.  But he remembered his fruit-lovin' kiddos and had a bouquet sent just for them!  Again, notice that Hope doesn't take her eyes far from scooping out the food!

And a Valentine day just wouldn't be complete without one of Emma's famous Valentine day parties for her Dad.  She always knows how to throw a fantastic one complete with dinner and dancing!

This year Emma helped make Red Velvet Chocolate Beet Cupcakes with her famous dairy free beet icing...a definite crowd pleaser in this house, just see for yourself!

So there you have it...better late than never.  It seems to have passed us ohhhh too quickly.  A beautiful day of loving, surprising, loving, giving, and loving a little more. xoxo
